cupcake party!

This cupcake party was a long time in the make, and it finally happened last night and we had the best time. I think the pictures speak for themselves--they are about as delicious as they are adorable. We dyed the icing VDay colors and used tons of different edibles for decorations. So fun! We are thinking about making this a monthly event...

Salmon & Steak Frites

Last night I prepared a delicious salad, along with a salmon fillet for myself and a rib eye steak for the boys, accompanied with frites (frozen curly fries). A great meal! Ari taught me prepare and cook the salmon in a new way, and it was delicious: first I covered the fillet in a little bit of EVOO, then I squeezed lemon juice all over, and finished it off with some kosher salt and pepper. The salmon was cooked for 20 minutes in a glass dish at 375 degrees, and it was absolutely amazing. For the rib eye, just a little bit of kosher salt, and flash fried for about 6 minutes on high heat. A yummy Saturday night in the Sidway.

Super Bowl XLIV in Miami; super Super Bowl Party I in the Queen City

We had some good friends over for the Super Bowl, so in true LSZ fashion, I put out quite the spread! As you can see pictured here, the food was a hit. Featured dishes were:

1. Baked Kosher Salami (salami baked in a delicious sauce--whole grain mustard, brandy, apricot jam, tabasco sauce, etc)
2. Spinach Artichoke dip (plain low fat yogurt, light mayo, fresh spinach, canned artichokes, paramasan cheese, all whipped up in my Cuisinart food processor from YAJ)
3. Taco layer dip (a recipe I got courtesy of Ari--layered sour cream/cream cheese mixed with taco seasoning, lettuce, tomato, salsa, cheddar cheese, etc)

The above three dishes which I made, paired with other treats (pizza and wings) made for a great football game.

Dinner at Chez Cohen's

I can't even begin to describe how amazing this meal was that Ari had us over for--he made steak for everyone but salmon for me because he knows I'm not a big red meat fan (he's good to me). As you can see in the picture, sort of, he made the salmon with his amazing homemade chimichurri sauce...so good, can't get over it. Also featured is a delicious salad with balsamic, tomatoes and mozzarella, and sesame noodles (my addition to meal). Sad to say I neglected to take a picture of the enormous steak, which everyone was raving about, clearly.
